Detroit, MI (June 21, 2017) – Bejin Bieneman is pleased to announce two of its attorneys, Daniel Hegner and Peter Keros, were named to leadership positions of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) for 2017-2018.
Daniel Hegner, President of MIPLA and associate attorney of Bejin Bieneman, first joined the Association in 2011 and has been involved in a leadership role since 2013. Mr. Hegner joined MIPLA to engage in activities that facilitate the purpose of MIPLA. Activities include: lunch-and-learns and other special events that help develop and disseminate information concerning matters affecting and of interest to IP practitioners and their clients, foster good fellowship and promote communications among its members, and consider and take appropriate action concerning matters of mutual interest.
As the newly elected President, Mr. Hegner has established goals for his term of office. “I wish to re-institute the MIPLA newsletter, to train our leadership regarding their responsibilities and roles, to increase outreach to law students interested in IP, and to ensure that we are serving the needs of all our members,” said Hegner.
Peter Keros, Law School Liaison of MIPLA and associate attorney of Bejin Bieneman, first joined the Association in 2012 to get more involved with the organization and help plan events for the Michigan IP community. With Keros being a recent law school graduate, the Law School Liaison was a great fit for him in the organization.
“I am active in MIPLA because I want to connect with the local IP community. Most of my law school friends left the state, so I’ve had to build my network from the ground up, and MIPLA has been essential to building that network. MIPLA has introduced me to several people (Daniel Hegner being one of them) who have helped me progress as a patent lawyer,” said Keros.
Christopher Francis, member of Bejin Bieneman, also served as President of MIPLA for the 2014-2015 term, and has recently retired from serving on the Board of Managers of MIPLA for the last two years (2015-2017).
