Southfield, MI (November 7, 2018) – Throughout the year, Daniel Hegner, member of Bejin Bieneman PLC, has taken various opportunities to travel around the U.S. giving a presentation to different IP organizations on the topic of functional patent claims.
On November 13 from 12 to 1:15pm, Mr. Hegner presents on Functional Claiming at the CinciIP Luncheon that is taking place at the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.
Per his discussion, recent decisions under 35 U.S.C. §§ 101, 112, and 103 come into focus when viewed through a common lens. As part of the presentation, Mr. Hegner discusses the convergence of federal court and PTAB decisions questioning functional language in patent claims. He then takes a practical look at the evolving challenges to functional claiming, providing tips to assist the practitioner in taking advantage of U.S. law permitting functional claim language, but at the same time avoiding functional-claiming pitfalls.
