Bejin Bieneman Names Daniel Hegner Partner
This month, Bejin Bieneman announced the news of Daniel Hegner being named as partner of the firm, effective January 1, 2018. He joins present firm members Thomas Bejin, Charles Bieneman, Stephen Kontos, and Christopher Francis.
Bejin Bieneman IP Seminar 2017
On September 28, Bejin Bieneman hosted its 5th annual IP Seminar at the Detroit Athletic Club. The seminar was approved for CLE in surrounding states and the turnout was excellent. The set up was a panel discussion with Judge Randall Ray Rader, Judge Gerald Ellis Rosen, and Thomas Bejin focusing on mediation advocacy. Two Bejin Bieneman Attorneys Named to Leadership Positions of the MIPLA for 2017-2018
The Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) is an association of intellectual property attorneys, patent agents, and law students from across the State of Michigan who are interested in patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property issues. Daniel Hegner, member of Bejin Bieneman PLC, was elected to President and Peter Keros, associate of Bejin Bieneman PLC, was appointed as Law School Liaison.

Launch of new website
Spring of 2017, we launched a more robust and user-friendly website that showcases Bejin Bieneman’s practice areas, attorney competencies, and highlights resources available to clients and partners, such as the firm’s blogs, webinars, and events.
Launch of revamped blog
Also in spring of 2017, we launched a revamped blog and sub-blogs. B2 IP Report is the firm blog and is an aggregate source of content covering all aspects of intellectual property matters, specific to software and claim interpretation. Posts are pulled from sub-blogs, The Software IP Report and The Claims Interpreted Report.
The Software IP Report, celebrating its sixth anniversary in 2018, examines patent law specific to computer and electronics and covers complexities that arise when software intersects the law of intellectual property. The primary author, Charles Bieneman, along with others, analyze intellectual property in recent legal cases — providing examples and sharing lessons for practice.
The Claims Interpreted Report provides insights on how to draft specifications and claims when prosecuting patent applications by covering three main areas: Ex parte PTAB appeals, IPR claim construction, and Markman claim construction. The primary author, Christopher Francis, along with others, analyze recent patent claims by providing meaning to words and how they are interpreted in the world of law.
Thomas Bejin Featured on IP House and Presented to the Shenzhen Intellectual Property Association in China
Summer of 2017, Thomas Bejin was featured on IP House in China, the largest provider of information about Chinese Patent Law. While there, he also presented to the Shenzhen Intellectual Property Association where over 150 local company representatives attended.
