Southfield, MI (January 30, 2018) – Stephen J. Kontos, a member of Bejin Bieneman, recently launched a new patent podcast channel titled, PatentXP: Level Up Your Patent Skills. The podcast covers recent Supreme Court, Federal Circuit, District Court, and PTAB decisions relating to US patent practice.
Steve decided to enter the world of podcasting after noticing how few patent podcasts are available. Taking inspiration from the famous Ghandi quote, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” Steve started the podcast to talk about topics relevant to his patent practice. Knowing that patent practitioners are busy, Steve wanted each episode to be short (each episode is less than 7 minutes) and to focus on only one topic.
“Nobody wants to listen to a 20-minute podcast episode that could have made the same point in under five minutes. I try to quickly get to the point and offer some valuable insights and practice tips so the listener doesn’t feel like I’m wasting his or her time,” said Steve.
The “XP” in the title of the show refers to “experience points,” which is a term used in the gaming industry (specifically role-playing games). The concept in those games is that you earn experience points by completing certain missions, and those experience points can be traded in for new skills or items that can help the player in future missions. Steve hopes that by listening to PatentXP, patent practitioners can improve their patent skills by learning about the latest patent law decisions and how those decisions can be applied to their practices.
Steve hopes that others in the patent community find the show valuable.
“It feels good to give back to the patent community, which has been so kind and generous to me throughout my career.”
Although he is the primary host, he would like to have occasional guests and maybe even a co-host. Steve also invites listeners to submit topics for future episodes. You can e-mail him directly at email@example.com.
