Charles Bieneman to Speak at USPTO 2017 Business Methods Partnership Meeting

Detroit, MI (August 28, 2017) – The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is hosting its 2017 Business Methods Partnership Meeting on Wednesday, September 20 from 1-4pm ET at the USPTO campus in Alexandria, Virginia. Charles Bieneman, of Bejin Bieneman PLC, is one of the featured speakers at the event. Presentations will include: Technology Center Director’s updated focus on trends and current initiatives How to identity eligibility subject matter in the Business Method area Current training activities Practitioner’s tips for overcoming 35 U.S.C. 101 rejections Round table discussion on the examination process Mr. Bieneman will be speaking on tips for overcoming Section 101 rejections in the wake of Alice Corp. v. Two Bejin Bieneman Attorneys Named to Leadership Positions of the MIPLA for 2017-18

Detroit, MI (June 21, 2017) – Bejin Bieneman is pleased to announce two of its attorneys, Daniel Hegner and Peter Keros, were named to leadership positions of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) for 2017-2018. Daniel Hegner, President of MIPLA and associate attorney of Bejin Bieneman, first joined the Association in 2011 and has been involved in a leadership role since 2013. Mr. Hegner joined MIPLA to engage in activities that facilitate the purpose of MIPLA. Launch of New Bejin Bieneman IP Blog, B2 IP Report

Detroit, MI (May 24, 2017) – Bejin Bieneman PLC, a full-service intellectual property law firm based out of Detroit, announced the launch of its new blog, B2 IP Report (www.b2ipreport.com). B2 IP Report is an aggregate source of content covering all aspects of intellectual property matters, specific to software and claim interpretation. Blog posts from B2 IP Report are pulled from Bejin Bieneman sub-blogs, The Software IP Report and The Claims Interpreted Report. The Software IP Report examines patent law specific to computer and electronics and covers complexities that arise when software intersects the law of intellectual property. The primary author, Charles Bieneman, along with others at the Firm, analyze intellectual property in recent legal cases – providing examples and sharing lessons for practice. The Claims Interpreted Report provides insights on how to draft specifications and claims when prosecuting patent applications by covering three main areas: Ex parte PTAB appeals, IPR claim construction, and Markman claim construction. “Section 112 and AIA Litigation” Article Featured in AIPLA Newsletter

Stephen Kontos, a member of Bejin Bieneman, wrote an article titled “Section 112 and AIA Litigation”, that was featured in the AIPLA’s Patent Law Committee Newsletter – Spring edition (May 2017). Using cases from the last few months, the article explores how the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) uses §112 in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings and post-grant review (PGR) proceedings.
