Christopher Kilner
Christopher Kilner is of Counsel and brings over 30 years of experience in the field of intellectual property to the firm. Christopher’s practice currently focuses on patent prosecution for clients in a variety of industries, including automotive and aerospace.Prior to joining Bejin Beineman, Christopher was a senior associate at a Virginia intellectual property firm, concentrating on patent prosecution for various multinational clients in the industries of electronic displays, automotive systems, semiconductors, telecommunications, and LED lighting. Before that, he also was an associate at a Northern Virginia Intellectual Property boutique, where he was involved in patent prosecution, patent litigation, post-grant procedures such as ex parte and inter parte reexamination, and opinion work.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Christopher was a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for over a decade, where he examined inventions in various fields of art, including kilns, web dryers, refrigeration systems, cryogenic cooling, hydrocarbon distillation, cryogenic air separation, and semiconductor diffusion furnaces.
Christopher is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law (J.D., 1998, now the Antonin Scalia Law School) where he attended in the evening while working full-time as a Primary Examiner. He is also a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S., Mechanical Engineering, 1986) under the co-operative education program, where he interned at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). After obtaining his engineering degree, Christopher worked as a test and evaluation engineer for Naval Special Warfare at NSWC, developing and testing weapons systems for the U.S. Navy SEALS.
